The recent floods across India have brought immense suffering — relentless rains, rivers overflowing, cloudbursts and landslides have destroyed homes, ruined crops, and left countless families without shelter or livelihood. Moved by these heartbreaking stories, Shreeram Radhakrishnan Memorial Trust resolved to stand beside those struggling in the flood-hit regions of Maharashtra.
With the help of local contacts, we identified remote villages in Latur, Dharashiv, and Solapur where very little or no relief had reached. After careful planning, we prepared essential relief kits and reached out to 155 affected families, each kit containing food grains, oil, spices, toiletries, mats, blankets, and other basic necessities.
On 4th September, our team set out from Nerul, and over the next 39 hours, travelled to villages such as Mohal-Pofli, Ausa-Irvali, Ausa-Taka, Kalamb-Khodla, and Kalamb-Athardi to personally hand over the kits. Despite days of heavy rain in the region, our mission went on without interruption — as if nature itself blessed our efforts.
Each stop revealed stories of resilience and courage amid devastation — collapsed homes, washed-out fields, and lives turned upside down. Yet, the gratitude in the eyes of those we met made every moment worthwhile.
This mission was made possible by the tireless coordination of Ajit Sir, the dedication of our Shikshaangan teachers — Rahul Pawar, Sangita Madam, Jayshree Madam, Priyanka Madam, Supriya Madam, Miss Vishaka, and Sarika Madam — and the quiet support of volunteer Nikhil. Trustees R. Radhakrishnan and Mrs. Lalitha Radhakrishnan were part of this heartfelt journey, and we remain deeply thankful to Mr. Santosh Deshpande for the transport support that made it possible.
