Rural Outreach – Empowering Villages, Enriching Lives

Shreeram Radhakrishnan Memorial Trust believes that true progress begins when the benefits of development reach the remotest corners of our country. While cities move ahead with technology and opportunity, rural areas still struggle for access to basic education, digital awareness, and sustainable livelihoods. Guided by this belief, our Trust has steadily extended its activities to villages, with a focus on education, empowerment, and care for those in need.

One of our key initiatives has been the establishment of a Computer Centre at the Zilla Parishad School in Vasheni Village, Raigad District, started in 2021 with the generous CSR support of ApMoSys Technologies Pvt. Ltd.. This centre continues to function successfully, introducing hundreds of village children to the world of computers and digital literacy — a skill that has now become essential for progress. We have employed a full-time computer teacher, Mrs. Deepika, who has been doing a commendable job in nurturing young minds and helping them gain confidence in using technology.

In addition to the Computer Centre, the Trust has been supporting the local Anganwadi at Vasheni. Our assistance includes providing educational materials, toys, and basic amenities to create a nurturing learning environment for the tiny tots who form the foundation of tomorrow’s generation.

Beyond educational activities, the Trust continues to extend a helping hand to families in distress. During difficult times such as the recent floods that ravaged parts of Maharashtra, we provided essential relief materials including tarpaulins, food, and clothing to affected families in and around rural Raigad. These small efforts brought much-needed comfort and protection to those who lost their meagre possessions in the floods.

Education continues to remain at the heart of our mission. Recently, we undertook a meaningful initiative to provide school bags, water bottles, and stationery items to the students of several Zilla Parishad Schools located in the tribal belt of Pen, Raigad District. Visiting these schools was a deeply moving experience — just 50 kilometers away from Navi Mumbai, yet worlds apart in terms of living conditions and resources. The smiles on the children’s faces as they received their school kits reminded us why we do what we do.

Looking ahead, the Trust is now exploring new ways to empower rural women. Discussions are underway to help the ladies of Vasheni Village start small income-generating ventures — whether tailoring, handicrafts, or other sustainable activities that can bring them both confidence and financial independence. We believe that when a woman is empowered, an entire family moves forward.

Our journey in rural Maharashtra is only beginning. With continued support from our well-wishers and partners, Shreeram Radhakrishnan Memorial Trust aims to strengthen its rural initiatives — nurturing education, encouraging self-reliance, and creating opportunities for a better tomorrow. Together, we can bridge the gap between privilege and need, and help transform villages into vibrant, self-sustaining communities
